Interest based Bargaining/Problem Solving

This one day, virtual training is for federal leaders and supervisors, facilitated by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services (FMCS).

Description: This workshop is designed for labor/ management, joint committees and shared neutrals who want to negotiate, or problem solve using a process based on standards, not power. This style of problem solving is effective for contract bargaining, grievance/ complainant issues and problem solving for labor/management committees or teams. The workshop will offer the skills needed to conduct this style of problem solving. The skills offered will be communications, consensus decision-making and brainstorming.  Parties who have participated in this process have learned that their agreements tend to address issues more in depth than those reached using traditional techniques because they are the result of a process aimed at satisfying mutual interests by consensus, not based on power.
